The Carol Galvin Foundation's Official New York Fashion Week Women's Cancer Fundraising Gala returned on February 12th with many celebrity appearances and performances to help raise money for women battling cancer. Support and donation proceeds assist cancer victims financially.

NYFW Carol Galvin Foundation @carolgalvin_foundation partnered with Ivonne Camacho PR/CEO @absolutmoderne for the bi-annual Cancer Fundraising Gala presented the "Models of Philanthropy" with Avadora Mimouni @avadoramimouni one of kind Luxury purses.

Merchandising, designing, and sourcing the globe for fashion was a dream come true for Ivonne Camacho. Graduating from Mount Ida College, with a focus on Fashion Illustration, Ivonne continued her passion in Fashion Design and Merchandising at The Fashion Institute of Technology and Syracuse University. The highlight of her training took place after meeting famous fashion designer, Oleg Cassini. Mr. Cassini took Ivonne under his wing as a mentorship. Ever since, Ivonne has had the tools that have enabled her to pave a successful career of over 25 years in the fashion business.

Ivonne is the creator of the fashion inspired “Coffee, Tea & Tees.” And, it is because of her innate attraction of potential followers, as well as, immersing designers, and designer friends in the industry, it has enabled Ivonne’s designer database to continue to vastly increase on social media.

“Our team collaborates and brainstorms on the best strategy for each designer to reach their target audience. There is just so much talent out there, it’s awe-inspiring. The Carol Foundation was founded by Rick Galvin IN MEMORY OF ONE I RUN FOR ALL. In honor of my mother Carol Galvin whom he lost to cancer when he was 11 years old.

This year the gala and fashion show features headlining designers Sara Minervini an American fashion designer who is launching her brand SIRS which specializes in lingerie where her goal is to spread confidence and create garments that women around the world can feel beautiful in. Headlining designer Qaysean is a celebrated fashion designer who created luxury street wear brand ManikinMob. His nickname is "The one hand sewing man" evolved organically because of his ability to cut and sew gowns/tuxedos/outwear with one hand. He has been seen on VH1's Basketball Wives/Season 3 Love & Hip Hop. He is sponsored by comedian and actress Sommore of One Thousand Kisses Inc., an entertainment group affiliated with comedian Sommore.

Fashion Designer Avadora Mimouni showcased her glamorous evening bag collection.

Divine Designer and model, Avadora Mimouni was born in the Azores archipelago of Portugal. As a child, Avadora was always creative expressing herself through theater and modeling at fashion boutiques. ... She pursued modeling and graced the covers of magazines, walked prestigious runway and appeared in acting roles.

Designer Ruth Zabetta brings her Spanish and Dominican culturally inspired designs to New York Fashion Week this season, as part of the CAAFD collective showcase. Ruth Zabetta, designer Ruth Zabetta was raised in both Spain as well as the Dominican Republic, which imparts a unique cultural influence on her designs. Known for modern lines and cuts which still maintain a feminine presence, Ruth Zabetta strives to create beautiful silhouettes that are consistent through all the pieces. As in every season, the Council of Aspiring American Fashion Designers (CAAFD) hand-picks some of the finest talents in the global fashion industry. This season, the committee decided to focus on a few of their past designers. CAAFD aims to develop more opportunities to more talents with the passion and the ambition to contribute into the world of the global fashion community.

Kadri Klampe is an Estonian-born, founder and designer created Yufash as a unique and forward-thinking brand made for the confident and powerful women of the world, with all garments fabricated exclusively in England. Founded in 2015, Klampe and Yufash have since experienced skyrocketing popularity, including having designs featured on the hit television series Scream Queens. Yufash is one of the few designers chosen as part of the CAAFD’s incubate/nurturing program, returning for her third seasonal showcase after her previous career-defining CAAFD showcases. The Evening wear captures the resilience, strength and elegance of this landscape’s inhabitants. This 16-piece collection features layered beading inspired by wild patterns and structures, combined with Yufash’s signature reflective prints. A stark contrast is found in the meeting of organic influences and Yufash’s signature modernity. The combination of long metallic draped gowns with zebra and leopard beaded gloves, captures the very essence of this season’s collection. An organic strong spirit is evident in waist gathered coats with wide collars, emulating the kings and queens who walk this land.

The Sania Maskatiya brand is best known for their versatile, specialised prints, textile design based on pure fabrics, unique colours, and fine craftsmanship. Indeed the fashion label employs its own in-house printing, embroidery and stitching units with a dedicated team of talented textile graduates. The brands runway shows are much anticipated by critics and patrons alike in India, Pakistan, Europe and the US and to this end consistently showcase at the PFDC and FPW platforms in Pakistan, also having showcased at Lakme Fashion Week in India. The brand showcased at the prestigious Swarovski Sparkling Couture Infinity Exhibit in Dubai in October 2017 which was followed by the critically acclaimed ramp showcase of their bridal ‘Samarkand’ collection at the PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week 2017 and Luxury Pret collections showcases at PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2018 with ‘Color Dash’ and Hum Showcase 2018 with ‘Sahvar’ in Pakistan earlier this year. In September 2018, Sania Maskatiya presented its dedicated western wear line Sania Studio’s Spring/Summer 2019 Collection at the New York Fashion Week (NYFW) Showcase. Indeed, a first for a Pakistani designer.

Their dynamic design sensibility continues to be lauded by the industry, with the brand having been honoured with four prestigious Lux Style Awards, most recently for Achievement in Luxury Pret this 2018 and also the Designer of the Year Award – Bridal in September 2018 at Hum Style Awards. Sania Maskatiya was featured on the cover of Regard magazine with the American supermodel and Hollywood Actress Quinn James of One Tree Hill, Shantel VanSanten. In April 2018, Sania Maskatiya was named as the ‘Creative Guru of the Year’ for Hello Magazine Awards. The brand was also the official wardrobe partner for the Eid 2018 Movie featuring Mahira Khan and Sheheryar Munawar, 7 Din Mohabbat In.

The Sania Maskatiya brand continues to expand both nationally and internationally. Although their love was forbidden by societal difficulties, these individuals were brought together by a force that was greater than the both of them and through fashion their love story is being told to the world. Stevie Boi is an American fashion designer, actor and founder of the luxury eye-wear line & Brand SBShades. Boi designs and sells unisex eye-wear and accessories on his website and in select luxury boutique stores across the globe. Stevie has designed eye-wear for stars such as Kesha ,Beyonce, Madonna, Britney Spears, Katy Perry + many more. Stevie Boi was born in Augusta, Georgia but raised overseas.

He grew up with parents who were in the Army and traveled a lot during his childhood. He started designing in 2007 and quit his job with the military to start his business selling eye-wear. Boi's big break was landing his eye-wear on the cover of Vogue magazine in 2012. Since then Boi's products/designs have been featured in over 900+ Publications/Media Sources. He now is preparing to move into TV and film by acting and pursuing costume design.

ZANG TOI is a renowned Fashion Designer who has built a tradition of elegance for over 20 years. Coming from humble beginnings, Zang was born and raised in a small village, Kuala Krai in Kelantan, Malaysia. He was the youngest of seven children of a local grocer. Zang landed in New York City at the age of 20 where he studied at the distinguished Parsons School of Design. In August 1989, he opened his atelier and soon after, U.S Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour featured Zang in March 1990 issue and was one of the first Asian designers championed by the renowned editor. In 1990, Zang was awarded the Mouton Cadet Young Designer of the Year which recognizes the top, young, U.S. designer of the year. In a Newsday article published in 1991, Frank De Caro enthusiastically noted of the Malaysian-born designer and his success, “If anyone is THE NEXT BIG THING, it’s him.” (Newsday, New York, 29 April 1991). Since that time, Zang’s work has been featured in major publications such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, Time, Newsweek, The New York Times, Financial Times, etc. Not only has he dressed Hollywood celebrities such as Sharon Stone, Elizabeth Taylor, Farrah Fawcett, Kristie Alley, Patti LaBelle, Gong Li, Eva Longoria, Fergie (Black Eyed Peas) and Heather Graham, but has also created luxurious wardrobe for philanthropists and royalty including Melinda Gates and Saudi Princess Haifa Bandar Al Saud. Along with his passion for glamorous fashion, Zang has been an avid supporter of the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LIVESTRONG) and has raised over USD $700,000 to help in the effort in finding a cure for cancer. His was recognized by the foundation in 2008/2009 when he was presented with the Lance Armstrong Foundation Top Fundraiser Award. Zang’s continued success was recognized by Vivid Magazine where he was named as one of the Top 8 most influential Chinese Americans (June-July 2011 issue). Today, after 28 years of being in business, the designer opens his first flagship boutique. On Sept.13, 2017, Zang Toi opened his first store in his company’s 28-year history at 1046 Lexington Avenue. The jewel box is an 800-square-foot unit with marble floors, floor-to-ceiling mirrors, crystal chandeliers and an oversize French mahogany table refinished with white lacquer and shiny chrome. Today, the world continues to recognize Zang’s passion for timeless beauty as he builds on a strong tradition of elegance.

NEW YORK, NY (February 2020) – Under the simple moniker ‘Turkish Designers’, Asli Filinta, Deniz Berdan, Simay Bulba and Hakan Akkaya, each showed strong visions that truly asserted their rightful place in fashions is on the runways of NYFW at Spring Studios, Gallery II. The show, held on Tuesday, February 11th @ 7:00 PM, was generously underwritten by the Turkish Government as well as the Turkish Textile Council.

SİMAY BÜLBÜL:​ Fashion designer Simay Bülbül Sarıpınar brought a different perspective to the fashion design sector, mainly by using leather and by pairing leather and knitting together in her collections. Simay Bülbül brings together her trainings in the UK and the Netherlands and the works she has done in the field of design in the vision for the collections. She also provides design and brand consultancy services to various companies, as well as education, film and various art activities.

Simay Bülbül, first place winner of 2003 Derisigner (Leather Design Competition), brings together simplicity and difference with her leather collections, finished in harmony with her textile products. Simay Bülbül Sarıpınar, who has been active in the fashion industry since 2001, first started to design with her name and label in 2007. Describing the brand identity as “Bohemian Elegance,” the designer dresses women who seek or find their way, feel the design, and love to live outside the boundaries.

Simay Bülbül, who made her first fashion show in Garage Istanbul with the collection of “Fairy Tales Detached From the Reels” in 2008, took place regularly in Istanbul Fashion Days, İstanbul Week and Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Istanbul organizations as of 2009. As part of 2010 Istanbul Capital of Culture projects, to represent Turkey, Simay Bülbül Sarıpınar had a fashion show in Germany's Ruhr city in 2011, and after her show in Sarajevo, she presented her collection named Ece at the Korea World fair as a representative of Turkey.

Simay Bülbül Sarıpınar has been a board member of the Fashion Designers Association since 2012. She is also the founder partner of Fikriperver Agency, Perveran (concept store), Muhterif (concept store), KSKM (Capadoccia Art and Culture Center), and Kırmızı Karavan, which designs projects for many brands outside of fashion. Simay Bülbül Sarıpınar, who has been involved in voluntary work with children since 2012, established the Kırmızı Çocuklar Derneği in 2018 to raise awareness around protection of family and the development of protected children.

DB BERDAN:​ DB BERDAN is a young and sharp London based urban lux brand. They are a matriarchal queer brand that loves to use their own prints to tell their stories. They are very much a story driven brand that get their biggest inspiration from the social rights movements, streets and underground cultures. Unifying music, film and performance they really don’t shy away from expressing themselves as much as they can.

DB BERDAN continue to bring a sense of pride and freedom of speech to their collections, D is for diversity. Their socially advanced garments embrace every part of postmodern society in passionate and spirited street wear.

DB BERDAN is for any person who enjoys bold colors and bold statements with sarcastic humor. The brand has achieved great critical acclaim within the industry with their collections being featured across publications such as Vogue UK, Vogue Italia, Gay Times, Paper Magazine and more. Their celebrity fans include Halsey, GIRLI, Lady Leshurr, Dope Saint Jude, Becca Dudley, Stefflon Don, Nadia Rose and many more.

They have been Mercedes Bens Presents DB Berdan two times in a row; one with their AW 2017 in MBFW Istanbul and after with SS 2018 in MBFW Tbilisi. They have collaborated with international corporations like Pepsi, Reebok, Braun, Redbull, Bioderma, Disney Company, Starbucks, Nescafe, Douglas Cosmetic, Ikea, Sunglass Hut, Macro Center, Maybelline NY, and PepsiCo. In 2013, inspired by the movie “Oz The Great and Powerful”, they designed 4 costumes for the European launch of the movie in LWF Somerset house with Nicholas Kirkwood. Also, they were the first Turks that got into the international press release.

HAKAN AKKAYA:​ Hakan Akkaya left Bilkent University Architecture Department on the second year and took fashion design training in Istasyon Art Academy and over the past 19 years has been pursuing his fashion designer career. He had been a department manager in the leading companies of the fashion industry such as Boyner Holding , Altınyıldız and Sarar.

He was the first Turkish designer who attended Who’s Next Paris and Bread&Butter Berlin Fair with his menswear collection in 2012. He had attracted great interest with his fashion shows, both men's and women's collections, for eight seasons in Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Istanbul.

Hakan Akkaya was also the moderator and jury of TV shows for six seasons. For Kızılay corporate employees, Hakan Akkaya’s designs made from nanotechnology fabrics with the support of ITHIB (Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters Association), were presented with a press conference held in Çırağan Palace. He is consultant of ITHIB and has also been part of the ITHIB Fabric Design Contest jury at 2014 and 2018. The finalist’s fabrics become elegant garments at Hakan Akkaya’s Atelier and are presented with a fashion show. His two fashion shows in Turkey ‘120 Days of Sodom’ and ‘Marie Antoinette’ became a sensational news in Turkish and worldwide press. He represented his collections with magnificent runway shows.

Hakan Akkaya became the first and the only Turkish Designer included on the New York Fashion Week Official schedule. He presented his collections in New York Fashion Week in February 2017, September 2017 and February 2019. As well as preparing custom-made designs for both men and women with the brand HAKAN AKKAYA, he is also designing pret-a-porter products

Hakan Akkaya, professional fashion designer for 16 years, left his education in Bilkent University (Architecture) to study Fashion Design at İstasyon Art Academy. After graduation, he started working as Design Department Manager for leading brands including Boyner Holding, Altınyıldız, Sarar among others within the Turkish textile industry. In 2010, he established his own atelier and firm. In 2012, he had the honour of become the first Turkish designer in "Who’s Next Paris" and "Bread & Butter" exhibitions. In addition to having served as a Consultant for the ITHIB (Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters Association), Akkaya also arranged and presented ITHIB’s 9th, 10th and 11th International Fabric Design Contests. Hakan Akkaya has participated in NYFW: The Shows since 2012.

On February 7th I attended the Raul Penaranda Show at Art Heart Fashion.

Before the show I had the chance to interview Chief Executive Officer James Trush of Runway Rogue.

Afterwards backstage I interviewed Miss New York USA Andreia Gibau.

Andreia Gibau of New York City was crowned Miss New York USA 2020 on January 19, 2020 at The Performing Arts Center in Purchase College in Harrison. She will represent New York for the title of Miss USA 2020.

New York designer Raul Penaranda has been making his dream a reality designing luxury women’s wear with an aesthetic that stands apart with a mix of edge and sophistication. Through this uncompromising style, Raul has dared to be himself and only two years after debuting at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week was declared by FORBES magazine as one of the fastest growing fashion entrepreneurs to come out of the small business industry with his 100% USA manufactured ready to wear fashion line for women.

Raul was born in Cali, Colombia. He grew up in Caracas, Venezuela and moved to Miami, Florida with his family as a young adult. In 2000, Raul relocated to New York City where he was offered a freelance design position at Liz Claiborne, while enrolled at F.I.T and Parson’s. Over the

next ten years, some of the industry’s most established fashion houses felt his

creative impact such as Oscar de la Renta, DKNY and Tommy Hilfiger. He has held key positions as Creative Director of Merchandise and Trend Services, Senior Designer and Textile/CAD Designer.

Recently during New York Fashion Week, Raul’s burgeoning style culminated in a tremendous showcasing of ready-to- wear designs for Fall / Winter 2017 entitled ‘IGNITE’. Presenting to one of his largest audience to date, Raul did not disappoint as his models posed in designs influenced by the classic style of Film Noir. The result provided looks that were refined and sophisticated, yet sexy and playful, all of which has gained him recognition from the CFDA. Still, Raul is only getting started and with twelve seasons of inspiring collections there is only one demand from the designer … show the world who you are.

During NYFW I had the chance to chat with Designer Alexandra Popescu York about her Spring Summer 2020 Collection at Art Hearts Fashion. This season's inspiration was all about  "Obsessed"  and  metallics and Alexandra confessed that gold is always her favorite  hue so she always incorporates metallic gold into her collections which are are always glamorous and elegant. My favorites were the metallic gold snake ensembles and suits! Just gorgeous!

Alexandra defines the modern woman – refined, always elegant, effortlessly looking cool. She is most likely wearing ”Desire”, the new collection by Alexandra Popescu York, made for all the places where a powerful modern woman will go. When it comes to fashion, Alexandra’s style is difficult to reproduce. She brings together uncommon materials to create monumental art collections that illustrate her prolific imagination. Alexandra Popescu-York, the Romanian-born designer now based in New York, is the only designer in the world who has presented artworks of different categories at the same show, at the same time: a collection of fashion couture and a painting exhibition. She has been painting since the age of three and has studied fashion design and plastic arts at the University of Arts in Bucharest.

Her fashion motto? ”I am not creating dresses, but concepts. Not seasonal clothes, but trends, movements, emotions.” The new collection reflects this. ”Desire” is made for the resolute New Yorker, the woman who has places to go to and things to do and needs a versatile wardrobe. This collection is a celebration of women sensuality combining elegant, classy, sultry, with a glam rock feeling.

She is led by the thought that the most important thing for a designer is that the finished product is original, believing that “authenticity is increasingly rare in the world of fashion”. Many times she will paint directly onto the materials or embroideries or she will completely alter the textures through overlapping. “It is said that you cannot reinvent the wheel, but I am stubborn to prove that you can nonetheless be original in fashion,” says the creator.

Every presentation comes with a new concept inspired by her own experiences. Generally she has two couture presentations per year and, though she follows the trends, she focuses mainly on her own experiences – not copying trends but always trying to introduce elements of art. Alexandra Popescu York’s creations are unusual, one-of-a kind or limited edition luxury clothes which appeal to modern women.

She’s used to building patterns directly on the model rather than on the pattern table, as other designers often do. Over time she has created dresses without side-seams and with hundreds of stitches, admitting that she rarely uses the classical patterns unless they are needed. „A designer’s individuality consists in using the fabrics and materials that nobody else uses”, says Alexandra Popescu York.

Settled in the US for over ten years, she’s built an impressive record of national and international fashion shows and exhibitions.

Beside her many fashion awards and recognitions, her paintings have also been included in the Art Exhibition at the 70th Anniversary of the United Nations.  Nineteen pieces were shown in this season's collection.

Anthony Rubio Spring Summer 2020

Another Designer who emphasizes glamour and elegance is Anthony Rubio. He also was inspired by metallics with an emphasis on gold!

Born and raised in New York City, Pet Couturier Anthony Rubio originally studied women’s wear at New York’s Fashion Institute Of Technology. It wasn’t until the Spring of 2003 when he started designing for dogs after Anthony rescued a small dog he would named Bandit which had been terribly abused .

Shortly there after, Socialites commissioned these exquisite creations for their four-legged family members and major media outlets started to notice.

Anthony Rubio Designs was born and stands for creating and innovating new concepts and techniques and is strictly Couture. Each garment is created by hand with maniacal obsession to achieve perfection and meticulously executed solely by Anthony Rubio taking into full consideration comfort and safety above all. He is the first pet fashion designer to showcase during New York Fashion Week.

This season I was invited to Hogo McLaughlin Spring Summer 2020 by the controvercial publicist Kelly Cutrone who of course can be difficult. Needless to say I was happy to have a chance to interview the designer and isn't that what it's really all about promoting the designer and his magnificent creations.

Hogan was charming and enthusiastic about talking to me about his Spring Summer 2020 collection. When asked what the inspiration was Hogan replied, "I started with the color palette and there is a film called Belladonna of Sadness that was made in the '70s and that kind of formed the shapes and the feel of it all, twenty pieces were show which made it more concise."

Hogan McLaughlin is an American fashion designer, artist, and dancer. He began his professional career as a ballet dancer, performing with the internationally acclaimed Hubbard Street 2 and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. In 2011, he met and collaborated with artist Daphne Guinness on his first garments, which ended up on display in the windows of Barneys New York Madison Avenue, and at the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Later that year, McLaughlin launched his first collection under his name, and was subsequently profiled by The New York Times, WWD, Vogue.com, among other publications, and had the opportunity to create custom looks for a number of high profile clients including Lady Gaga. As an illustrator, he has had the pleasure of creating promotional images for HBO's Game of Thrones, Showtime's Penny Dreadful, and History Channel's Vikings.

Pelham teenagers Vincent Testorf and Julia Corso premiered their Drip Eight Spring Summer 2020 Collection at the Small Boutique Fashion Week at NYFW and broke the internet.

The young dynamo duo decided to bring an innovative edge to their young, contemporary streetwear garments by bringing awareness to irreversible climate changes.

Vincent Testorf and Julia Corso have always wanted to make a positive impression globally. Their efforts on bringing awareness and aid to a major issue with the environment will transend into sales. Ten percent of all sales of their brand will go to various charities such as onetreeplanted.org, which plants trees throughout the world in a fight for clean air.

Co-founders Julia Corso and Vincent Testorf both emphasize the need for community and togetherness. They boast of their New York origins in their clothing. Many catchphrases such as “Conceived in NYC” show their dedication to the city and its people.

Designer Marnita Miller premiered her EBABB Collection Spring Summer 2020 at the Phillipine Center on September 7, 2019.

I took some time to chat with the designer backstage about the inspiration for this season's collectiom. "This year's collectiom was all about color, bright colors....bring in more cheer, I wanted to lighten the load a little bit. So lets dress our kids in what is coming next....the florals, the prints and pair it with lack and white and make it all blend harmonously," reveals Designer Marnita Miller.

Fourteen pieces were shown in the collection.

As a high school graduate this Mississippi-native had high hopes of attending Parson School of Design in New York City but when tragedy struck her family years before, her dreams were met with much reluctance. Yet, never giving up, Marnita’s love for design bloomed into a reality through EFABB COLLECTION finding her muse in her first granddaughter. Every piece created is birthed from the heart of this designer with joy, love and endless hours of happiness. She infuses sophistication and wear-ability with hopes of making everyone wearing her designs feel Fabulous….

Marnita’s prayer is to inspire, encourage, mentor and connect to others with meaning and purpose through the EFABB COLLECTION brand, and her involvement in the fashion industry.

Today, she has a few apprentices of her own and spends time shearing her knowledge with them. She makes time to learn new techniques and exhibits at fashion shows all around the world.

When asked what the inspiration was Designer David Tupaz revealed "Metallics are this seasons inspiration was Oriental with a Metallic theme with variations of Gold." Twenty-three pieces were shown in this season's collection.

David Tupaz moved to Nevada in 2010 and has made Las Vegas his base. He is the only established "Industry and Couture" designer in Nevada. Representing Las Vegas in every major Fashion industry events in the country. Vivienne Hu Spring/Summer 2020 showcased stylized bobby pins on slicked back hair with cascading curls and sultry cosmetic look; featuring products from the designer’s new cosmetic line due to launch on her website, and in Macy’s the final week of September. The brand will feature four shades of lipstick, a variety of eyeshadows, and eyebrow pencils. Models skin was prepped with Rice Force products.

Celebrities in attendance included Beauty Mogul Nikita Dragun, Real Housewives of Dallas star Stephanie Hollman, model Alana Monteiro and comedian Lorenzo Cromwell. Influencers in attendance included Sharleen Joynt and Olivia Jeanette among others.

Vivienne Hu is a New York based designer. Before her fashion endeavors, she received her Bachelor’s degree in Finance from University of Hohenheim in Germany. She then worked in the Investment Banking industry in New York for over three years. Her decision to change career paths stemmed from her zeal for fashion and her love of creativity and the arts.

After a fashion degree from Parsons School of Design, Vivienne Hu established her brand, and debuted her Spring/Summer collection in 2012. She quickly gained industry experience working at Oscar de la Renta and Yigal Azrouel. With increasing market success, she formally launched her flagship store in Soho, New York in 2013. In 2016, she launched her second store at 107 Mercer Street, also in the heart of Soho, New York. Her designs have been featured in various fashion magazines like WWD, Cosmopolitan, Elle, Bazaar, Art and Designs, and Elegant.

Vivienne Hu has hosted her brand’s New York Fashion Week runway show since September 2014. In July 2015, she was selected as a Swarovski Collective Designer for the Summer/Spring 2016 NYFW show. Her collections exhibit a blend of classic European elegance and New York downtown style, with a touch of exotic Asian taste. Laduma Ngxokolo, the brilliant designer behind the South African knitwear brand Maxhosa, which has become a rapid growing fashion export, is no stranger to having his designs showcased in New York. Last year, a cable-knit sweater by Ngxokolo was showcased as part of the Museum of Modern Art’s "Is Fashion Modern?" exhibit and, up until this week, his kaftans were in Bloomingdale's as part of a pop-up inspired by Disney’s live-action remake of The Lion King, curated by actress Florence Kasumba. But this season marked the designer's first official foray into the fashion world beyond South Africa showed his spring-summer 2020 collection in the U.S. at New York Fashion Week, part of the “Made in Africa” banner show Thursday, Sept. 5, at Spring Studios.

It's all a collective moment that’s been a long time in the making, following the enormous success of Black Panther last year. Ngxokolo dressed John Kani and his son Atandwa for the Los Angeles premiere of that film and also inspired costume designer Ruth E Carter in her research for the movie’s Oscar-winning outfits.

I had the chance to chat with the designer, who expressed his desire to make all women feel regal and royal especially black women. Actress Lynn Whitfield also expressed her love for the brand as well.

TV Host Cognac Wellerlane interviews Fashion Designer Zang Toi at his NYFW Fall/Winter 2019 at Spring Studios

The theme this season was truly patriotic! The Land of the Home and The Brave set the tone for Zang Toi FW 2019 show as Donald Trump Jr. was seen front row along with girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle and former stepmother Marla Maples. Tunes playing pre-show at Zang Toi’s latest show — “This Land Is Your Land” and “Take Me Home, Country Roads” — was the theme song for the patriotic inspired lineup, a tribute to America from the Malaysian native who immigrated to New York 38 years ago.

During our interview, I asked what the inspiration was or the collection. Zang replied, "House of Toi Fall Winter 2019 is a red white and blue collection. I created this patriotic collection as a tribute to a country that I love....a country that I call home. The very first day I arrived 38 years ago with $300.00 in my pocket. Thirty edited pieces were seen in the collection."


ZANG TOI is a renowned Fashion Designer who has built a tradition of elegance for over 20 years. Coming from humble beginnings, Zang was born and raised in a small village, Kuala Krai in Kelantan, Malaysia. He was the youngest of seven children of a local grocer. Zang landed in New York City at the age of 20 where he studied at the distinguished Parsons School of Design. In August 1989, he opened his atelier and soon after, U.S Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour featured Zang in March 1990 issue and was one of the first Asian designers championed by the renowned editor. In 1990, Zang was awarded the Mouton Cadet Young Designer of the Year which recognizes the top, young, U.S. designer of the year. In a Newsday article published in 1991, Frank De Caro enthusiastically noted of the Malaysian-born designer and his success, “If anyone is THE NEXT BIG THING, it’s him.” (Newsday, New York, 29 April 1991). Since that time, Zang’s work has been featured in major publications such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, Time, Newsweek, The New York Times, Financial Times, etc. Not only has he dressed Hollywood celebrities such as Sharon Stone, Elizabeth Taylor, Farrah Fawcett, Kristie Alley, Patti LaBelle, Gong Li, Eva Longoria, Fergie (Black Eyed Peas) and Heather Graham, but has also created luxurious wardrobe for philanthropists and royalty including Melinda Gates and Saudi Princess Haifa Bandar Al Saud. Along with his passion for glamorous fashion, Zang has been an avid supporter of the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LIVESTRONG) and has raised over USD $700,000 to help in the effort in finding a cure for cancer. His was recognized by the foundation in 2008/2009 when he was presented with the Lance Armstrong Foundation Top Fundraiser Award. Zang’s continued success was recognized by Vivid Magazine where he was named as one of the Top 8 most influential Chinese Americans (June-July 2011 issue). Today, after 28 years of being in business, the designer opens his first flagship boutique. On Sept.13, 2017, Zang Toi opened his first store in his company’s 28-year history at 1046 Lexington Avenue. The jewel box is an 800-square-foot unit with marble floors, floor-to-ceiling mirrors, crystal chandeliers and an oversize French mahogany table refinished with white lacquer and shiny chrome. Today, the world continues to recognize Zang’s passion for timeless beauty as he builds on a strong tradition of elegance.

HAKAN AKKAYA’S GLAM ROCK COLLECTION – NYFW FALL/WINTER 2019


NEW YORK, NY (February 2019) – Was it a 1970’s “Glam Rock” concert or the Hakan Akkaya Fall 2019 collection? That was the question on everyone’s mind as they sat along the U-shaped runway at Spring Studios on Sunday. The Istanbul based designer presented his 3rd collection as part of NYFW in the cavernous Gallery I. The massive space was filled to the brim with an audience dressed to impress, perfectly complementing the show-stopping looks that walked.



Black, White & Metallic Silver, with a small dash of Metallic Pinks thrown in as an accent, made up every look of the collection of a Women’s & Men’s full designer range. The cameras & phones went a-flutter when the key looks appeared. The various looks in Black with Silver studs & spikes for Women proved to be audience favorites as did the range of inventive, body-con dresses, some with incredible sleeve and super strong shoulder details. A range of Black & White, bold-striped faux furs for both Men & Women had every person in the room taking notice.



As the finale walk-around commenced, the entire audience shrieked their approval, only to ramp it up even more when designer himself, Hakan Akkaya, walked the entire runway, nearly floating with pride as he blew kisses to his legions of fans, new & old alike.

THE TURKISH GROUP SHOW – NYFW FALL/WINTER 2019

NEW YORK, NY (February 2019) – The snow falling outside couldn’t dampen the upbeat, celebratory spirits of those that braved the elements to support three Turkish designers who made their NYFW debut on the runway of Industria Studios in the heart of the West Village. Under the simple moniker “The Turkish Group Show”, Buket Özkalfalar, Gökhan İldeniz & Firat Neziroglu, each showed strong visions that truly demonstrated their place in the show, which was sponsored by the Turkish Government as well as the Turkish Textile Council, was truly deserved.

Buket Özkalfalar – Buket Ozkalfalar seemed to be channeling a Goth version of the Great Gatsby when her pen took to the sketch pad. Inventive versions of flapper dresses mixed seamlessly with futuristic frocks, many finished off with red carpet worthy Black evening coats. Feather accents softened the collection & provided an overtone of whimsy & added yet another dimension to the collection of this notable newcomer.

Gökhan İldeniz – Gökhan İldeniz presented a casual vision of menswear for his Fall 2019 collection NYFW debut. Based mostly in denim with a serious dose of hand hewn, artisanal detailing like whip-stitching, patch-work, & inventive dying techniques that gave a broken-in, pre-worn, comfortable feel. The roughly cut, raw pelt-like furs added a rugged, almost costume like feel.

Firat Neziroglu – Menswear designer Firat Neziroglu, presented a collection that was pleasantly conflicted between dressy suiting & artsy-craftsy handmade separates. In some cases, the dichotomy coexisted on one piece such as the rope closures on suit jackets or the yarn-based details on jackets & at other times, the two worlds were artfully mixed in an ensemble like the heavy, hand woven scarves worn over tailored outerwear & giant, open gauge hand knit cardigans over suiting jackets & trousers.

ASIA FASHION COLLECTION FW 2019

The purpose of the Asia Fashion Collection is to discover and nurture young designers who are from Asia. Organized by Vantan Inc. and PARCO. Co. Ltd., AFC debuted February 9th 2019 at NYFW showing both menswear and womenswear.

Seven brands revealed their collections during the runway show. All of the brands

and designers are from Asian countries.

VIVIENNE HU F/W 2019

Vivienne Hu presented her FW 2019 collection during NYFW with a variety of fabulous designes running the gamil of fur pieces from Saga Furs to Career motivated designs to frilly evening wear.


I particularly loved the fur parka and coat trimmed with pink fur. I loved the fluttery pink and purple gown. It reminded me of delicate rose petals.

 Vivienne Hu is a New York based designer. Before her fashion endeavors, she received her Bachelor’s degree in Finance from University of Hohenheim in Germany. She then worked in the Investment Banking industry in New York for over three years. Her decision to change career paths stemmed from her zeal for fashion and her love of creativity and the arts.

After a fashion degree from Parsons School of Design, Vivienne Hu established her brand, and debuted her Spring/Summer collection in 2012. She quickly gained industry experience working at Oscar de la Renta and Yigal Azrouel. With increasing market success, she formally launched her flagship store in Soho, New York in 2013. In 2016, she launched her second store at 107 Mercer Street, also in the heart of Soho, New York. Her designs have been featured in various fashion magazines like WWD, Cosmopolitan, Elle, Bazaar, Art and Designs, and Elegant.

Vivienne Hu has hosted her brand’s New York Fashion Week runway show since September 2014. In July 2015, she was selected as a Swarovski Collective Designer for the Summer/Spring 2016 NYFW show. Her collections exhibit a blend of classic European elegance and New York downtown style, with a touch of exotic Asian taste. Her design concepts cater to women who have a strong sense of independence and a desire for displaying their femininity and personality in a unique way.

901 Productions is proud to present the 15th season of Small Boutique Fashion Week Runway Show and Market. SBFW is the largest event geared toward independent fashion brands. Founded in 2012 SBFW has displayed the collections of some of fashion's most powerful independent fashion labels.

Over 400+ brands, have been featured at this highly anticipated event and Small Boutique Fashion Week has been featured in many notable publications including Forbes, Vogue, and Fox Business Network.

Small Boutique Fashion Week has a history of enhancing the careers of its participants, and is always on the hunt for emerging designers that are eager to take their business to the next level.

I had the chance to chat with two designers Stephanie from SB Obsession and Designer Wes Woods from Orignal Crackage.

Gary Sze Kong, J.D., was born in Fujian, China. After graduating from middle school in Hong Kong, he immigrated to the United States alone at the age of 16. When he was 19, he purchased his first apartment building through a sheer reliance on his own efforts and hard work. In a strange new land, Mr. Kong first started as a handyman in an American restaurant. As a 16 year old, he understood that in order to live he had to integrate himself into this new environment – and to do that, he had to work harder and do more than others.

This outlook on life impacted how he would develop in his professional life, as he went on to attend the New York University School of Business, and then eventually graduate with a Bachelor of Laws, Master of Laws, and a Juris Doctor from the Law School of the Southwest International University.

Mr. Kong, armed with his professional training and expertise, began work in the life insurance industry. Eventually, through his own perseverance and personal determination, he was able to gain enough know-how in insurance marketing and law to become Assistant Solicitor, thereby becoming noticed by Avelino & Nitkewicz, LLP, a prominent law firm in New York City. It was in this capacity that Mr. Kong began to involve himself in a number of industries such as real estate, building materials, and storage. Through a series of shrewd investment home loans, he purchased properties all throughout the five boroughs of New York City, eventually forming Kong MGT, Inc., which to this day owns more than 90 percent market share of land titles in Flushing, New York.

The company currently has eight subsidiaries that own and manage more than twenty properties in New York, Texas, New Orleans, Nevada and other states – from commercial centers like hotels and malls to residential dwellings like condominiums and houses.

Later I chatted with Designer Wes Woods about his Original Crackage Collection.

Original Crackage designs combine inspirations of modern technology with organic influences, creating exclusive collections of urban casual wear and accessories. The founder and designer, Wes Woods, has always been attracted to stark lines, stripes, and high contrast colors. The iconic Original Crackage style features complex geometric patterns on simple pieces like the standard T-shirt. This gives an innovative twist to the meaning of modern, while mixing simple with complex. Each design is manufactured in limited quantities, and once it’s made, that same design is never made again, so OC customers can be sure they’re getting something exclusive, original, and unique. The OC crew, like the OC customers, are the trendsetters — the innovators– the coolest and the weirdest of any bunch. And that’s crack.

First conceptualized fall 2012 in Bowie, Maryland, Wes Woods, the designer and owner, was constantly drawing sketches of T-shirts with bold lines and stripes. Several sketches turned into several manufactured shirts, custom orders for Wes and his closest friends. Those several custom shirts soon turned into a growing demand and a viral buzz for OC apparel that spread through the DMV all the way to New York and even North Carolina, where Wes studied Textiles and Apparel at North Carolina Central University. Through word-of-mouth and appearances at events like New York’s Sneaker Con, DC’s Sneak Attack, and many local fashion shows, OC was on the rise. Fashion freaks of all kinds sought out Wes to be a part of the OC movement in any way possible: from models and makeup artists, to photographers, and trend-setting customers, it seemed everyone wanted to be a part of this fashion movement that was taking the DMV by storm and spreading quickly. Wes sold shirts through the OC Instagram account and shipped them off one-by-one, as fast as he could. As demand grew at such a rapid speed, the need for a website and organized e-commerce grew just as quickly. OriginalCrackage.com was finally launched in 2014.

WHY ORIGINAL CRACKAGE?

At the core of every work of art, your favorite pairs of shoes, and every design, there are lines, shapes, and angels. Most designers use stripes in moderation and obey a repetition that won’t stray from your average horizontally striped shirt. OC designs feature lines, shapes, and angles that go any direction they want to go, take up as much space as they want to take, and are any color they want to be, as if the design elements have minds of their own. This is where the word original comes in. Before there were words like tight, like that, or even cool, there was crack. Especially in the DMV, urban trendsetters use crack to describe something as appealing or stylish. As Wes sees it, lines are the original crackage of design; so it’s only right to chose one of the original words for cool to describe this unique take on fashion.

Mister Triple X is a high end streetwear line that is for those keen to embrace their inner rock star. Combining leather with bright prints, the collection is perfect for those who want to make a bold statement. Erik Rosete is the designer, manager, and producer of the line as well as Rosete Inc. and Art Hearts Fashion.


FW1920 collection presentation

Celebrating designer Erik Rosete's Mexican American heritage, the Mister Triple X FW/19 show was titled "Me X i Can". The collection is inspired by the designer's hispanic roots and featured a modern take on traditional Mexican attire with the brands futuristic twist. The collection and the messages portrayed on the clothing were a statement against the current political environment we live with and about breaking down walls both literal and metaphorically.

Rocco Leo Gaglioti is a self-made triple threat — creator, producer and host. He founded the televised on-line fashion magazine,FashionNewsLive.com, which almost overnight has become ranked as one of the top ten out of the 150 million fashion and celebrity sites around the world.

He hit the ground running in 2004 with his very first interview on the red carpet with Anna Nicole Smith. Not bad for a rookie. And the fact that she tried to make out with him didn’t even scare him away from pursuing his lifelong dream of working in the fashion industry. But making dreams come true takes more than good looks and charm. It takes hard work and determination as well.

Even though he makes it look easy, Rocco came from humble, though very loving beginnings. He learned to communicate with his hands through sign language before he could even speak because of his mother, who was born deaf. This naturally gave him a lifelong appreciation for the underdog, along with the advantage of a much more enhanced “sixth sense”.

Being in the right place at the right time doesn’t hurt either. And so it was a Miami model scout with an obvious eye for spotting talent who advised Rocco in 1994 to try his hand at modeling. Miami quickly turned into Milan and Paris, which turned into New York and the rest is history as they say.

Within a short time, he was signed with Boss and Zoli. Rocco wanted more though, and it was when he picked up a camera in Germany that he discovered his own eye for photography. He was a natural behind the camera, impressed several major publishers and soon after secured gigs from Maxim Magazine and Ocean Drive. But the model-turned-photographer still wasn’t satisfied. In 2000 he founded his own production company, RLG Productions, and set up shop at the back lot at Universal Studios.

His vision for a unique televised fashion magazine format was soon picked up by the now defunct UPN and maintained a strong presence on the network until its demise. He quickly transitioned his vision into an online media empire, which continues to grow and thrive today as he provides a steady stream of compelling entertainment and fashion content for millions of fashionistas around the world.

The 6’3” former model may dress from head to toe in Marc Jacobs and Gucci, but that is not what makes him fashion’s latest “It Guy”. It’s more than likely the combination of his soulfulness, his uncanny ability for discerning the next big thing and his beguiling quintessence that landed him on the pop culture radar and will undoubtedly make him a household name.

The rising star is certainly not going to slow down anytime soon. Rocco currently resides in New York City and Los Angeles, California.

The collection by the New York-based Mexican fashion designer Ricardo Seco Resist/Resiste is

centered around the Mexico City neighborhood of Tepito. Tepito is an iconic neighborhood that

brings to mind violence, illegality, and informality, an area riddled by crime and drug addiction.

However, it is also has a centuries-long history. Since before Europeans set foot in America, Tepito

has been a center of commerce, creativity, and color. Because of its contradicting characteristics,

Tepito plays a peculiar but very important role in the identity of Mexico City. Additionally, the

cultural significance of Tepito has been studied by academics and has inspired artists from Mexico

and around the world.

Burning Guitars actually launched two collections this season one collection for women is

where we came from so we can know where we are going. 

The second collection presented by Burning Guitars is a small black and white capsule

collection in collaboration with Platinum Super Producer "Teddy Riley"   This mens collection

is made out of neoprene fabrics and has a couture fit to the body. The full collection will be

presented in LA Fashion Week, in March 2019.


GRAYLING PURLNELL

Grayling Purnell is part of a new wave of American designers proving the country’s fashion

isn’t limited to floaty dresses and swimwear. Professionally trained in both Menswear and

Womenwear. Based out of New York City and Los Angeles.

Former Child Star, Actor, Model, Singer and Dancer turned Fashion Designer. Featured in my

first movie at the age of 8 (Meteor Man, directed and written by Robert Townsend). As a child

my mother always included me in the design process of getting my own clothes custom

created. Started my first clothing line Orphic Streetwear in September of 2013 within the next

six(6) months designed Six Shirts in Top Man in London, UK in Oxford Circus. Attended

Parson's New School of Design and Fashion Institute of Technology. Launched his Signature

Line House of Grayling Purnell, in September of 2015. Debuted his first Collection “ORPHIC”

during NYFW 2017. Second Collection at COACHELLA 2018  and third Collection “FIANO”

with Art Hearts Fashion during LAFW 2018. His fourth Collection “REFLECTION” was shown

with Art Hearts Fashion during NYFW 2019. His voluminous separates and side cascade

detailing are subtly man repelling, while more sharply tailored pieces are sure to get the tick of

approval from both sexes.

Cheyenne Anderson started her fashion career at eighteen when she moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue her dream in fashion, art and photography . In just 2 short years she produced three successful shows in New York fashion week which catapulted her to exposure worldwide. With Norwegian and African American decent, she came from humble beginnings in Seattle, Washington.

FW1920 collection presentation

“Spice/ girls fall/ winter 2019” was inspired by bright and colorful fabrics and intended to take women out of their comfort zone, insight confidence and add statement. This collection includes risqué looks, colorful dresses, Swarovski crystal skirts and what we call the diamond bikini. Models wore pigtails with colorful extensions to create a mesmerizing effect on the runway. Neon colors dominate trends currently, so these versatile looks are perfect to wear to the hottest couture event in Paris and also for a tropical getaway. The spice girls collection is for the the dreamers and risk takers. Sweet talk is for girls who crave boldness and confidence, it encourages woman to live a little through fashion and push boundaries.


KENTARO KAMEYAMA

Japanese-born Angeleno Kentaro Kameyama is the newest member of fashion’s

“in” crowd as the winner of season 16 of Lifetime’s Emmy-nominated series

“Project Runway”. Kameyama clinched the coveted prize with his jaw-dropping

runway show at New York’s Fashion Week, which featured models wearing

expertly-tailored clothes inspired by classical music, walking to an original score

composed by Kameyama. The fashion-forward collection impressed the show’s

judges Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia, Zac Posen and this year’s finale guest judge,

Jessica Alba. The collection was a featured spread in Marie Claire Magazine.

Kameyama is a 2015 graduate of FCI – The Fashion School of Los Angeles,

where he currently teaches and serves as Fashion Chairman. Also a classical

pianist and composer, Kameyama has a Graduate Certificate in Piano

Performance from the University of Southern California, an Artist Diploma from

the University of Redland, Masters of Music from the University of South

Carolina, Bachelor of Music from Oklahoma Wesleyan University, and an

Associate of Art in Piano Performance from Toho Music College in Tokyo.

The undulating dynamic of the runway show started off with a bold, red crop top with a long cream-colored skirt. The color scheme quickly shifted to pastels and ended with a strong note of black.

Like his previous seasons, Rubio made sure to stick to all things that glitter. From sequin detailing on canine-wear to glitter eyeshadow and glossy lips on the female models, his Fall/Winter 2019 collection brought no surprises.

The collection also showcased Rubio’s signature use of tulle, feathers and mesh, alongside his familiar front, back and side splits on the dresses. The canines dripped of luxury with custom fit capes, robes, and dresses taking the breath of the audience. The most eye-catching look was the big, soft Leonberger robed in a sequin outlined giraffe print robe. Alongside the canine was the lone male model of the runway, styling a sparkly green tie and a tightly-fitted gray suit with off-white loafers. 


In our interview he revealed the collection was inspired by the Designer Valentino with the ruffles and

the Spaniard look, reminicent of his Spanish roots,  Thirty pieces, 15 human and 15 pets couture designs.

Greta Constantine is a collection of ready-to-wear womenswear based in Toronto, Canada. Founded in 2006 by designers. Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong, the label is derived from the combination of the name of the latter's mother, Greta, with that of the former's grandfather, Constantine. The collection is available in over 40-doors worldwide across 15-countries including Hudson’s Bay, Nordstrom, and both Moda Operandi and Farfetch online. After the presentation I sat down with Greta Constantine designers Kirk Pickersgill about the inspiration behind their Fall/Winter 2019 Collection and they revealed three central ideas: modesty, volume and carbon footprint. During a recent trip to Dubai, the designers were “mesmerized how these [Emirate] women were made up and wearing their burkas — their clothing, just the way they are — they weren’t even trying to be modest. It was just their lifestyle and we thought, ‘We don’t have to show too much skin to be sexy,’” Pickersgill reminisced. “That trip did leave lasting impressions,” Wong added.

The dynamic duo experimented with proportions and layering for fall. Great long-sleeve sequined bodysuits and turtlenecks were layered beneath everything. The collection featured gray boiled wool separates or dresses. Each ensemble was piled under varying voluminous silhouettes — a high-neck tulle jacket, liquid Lurex dresses with sizable poet’s sleeves or brocade puffed-outerwear — which made the concept outstanding. The strongest look included a silver lame floor-length gown with puffed shoulders atop an all black long-sleeve sequined turtleneck. “Completely covered up but out there, still the center of attention,” Wong expressed.

The concept was to shine! and I expressed how much I love shiney things especially clothes.

On the first day of NYFW I was invited to "LOVE HANDLES FALL WINTER 2019" designed by innovative designer Artist Amanda Mehl. This season her collection was inspired by hardware so she chose to present the collection in the oldest hardware store in Manhattan, Garber Hardware.

Amehl is the fashion label of contemporary interdisciplinary artist Amanda Mehl. Amanda combines her art background and fashion industry experience to create a unique collection that is fun and progressive. Before starting her own label Amanda studied art and worked full time as a visual artist which contributed to her fresh ideas and turning of raw materials into well executed garments. Amanda grew up in fashion as the daughter of fashion designer Beverly Mehl, learning the industry from within and hitting the streets of the garment district at an early age. Learning the industry from her mother directly was an invaluable source for her in learning how to produce flattering and well made garments. When Amanda isn't working on a collection she is making dynamic multidisciplinary art installations and performances that exist in the realms of the internet and contemporary gallery spaces. She integrates mediums such as sculpture, photography, digital art, video, light, and sound into her installations to create interactive visual experiences which can be characterized by the same humor and energy that are present in her fashion label. In both her art and her fashion she enjoys mocking the seriousness of the art and fashion worlds and developing her distinct visual language which is about attitude, spirit, and spontaneity. Amanda Mehl was born in Buenos Aires, lived in Tel Aviv for 10 years and is currently living in New York. The collection is made in NYC.

Zang Toi’s Spring/Summer 2019 collection was a homage to Yves Saint Laurent the famous French Designer. Zang journeyed to Marrakech for specific purpose of visiting the YSL museum, which was the inspiration for his Spring/Summer 2019 Collection.

The collection includediconic Mondrian patterns, shown on silk floor-length dresses, cutaway coats and even silk scarves used as head wraps.

The safari influences was present, with a cream laced safari tunic dress, black trenches with a zebra print (predominant throughout) lining and classic safari jacket in off-white paired with wide-leg trousers.

Thirty looks walked the runway at this season's show.

Helen Yarmak's glamorous fur coats lined the walls of her studio, situated beside her exclusive jewelry line. Jazz music entertained celebrity guests while they enjoyed hors d’oeuvers and champagne.

The Helen Spring 2019 started with a mainstage presentation with models wearing an array of animal prints and sleek, red carpet evening looks. Cool, feathery blues, bold ambers and pinks ruled the stage; lightweight delicately soft and very comfortable for today's busy career woman. Helen's furs can be quite elegantly casual and comfortably worn with classy jeans and t-shirts! But I prefer the glamour combination with diamonds and gowns.

During NYFW onSeptember 9th, at the James Hotel, the American designer CHRISTOPHER LOWMAN premiered his Spring/Summer 2019 collection highlighting his street style with luxury fabrics in bright colors and textures.

The collection was inspired by 1980’s Summer Olympics. He rebooted the looks from the official Olympics opening ceremonies of that decade. Lowman then reimagined it for the 21st century by merging sophisticated clean silhouettes with a touch of edge.

Fabrics and textures included lambskin leathers mixed with neoprene, mixed media cow hides, golden tricot nylons, pullover’s, tracksuit.

Born and raised in New York City, Christopher began his career in 2014 interning for menswear brands in nyc. At 21 Christopher was assigned to a internship at Pyer Moss working closely with the designer and assistants. As Christopher soaked in every information he was provided he gained confidence to start his own company.

Christopher Lowman began as a project to reinvent the 1980’s rockstar by adding unique patterns and refining the fit. Christopher Lowman uses high-end materials, masculine form, unique pattern making, and modern tailoring to create luxury menswear. The Christopher Lowman collection is produced in New York City.


Before Christopher Lowman actually launched a full collection he has amassed support internationally from press such as NYLON ESPANOL, Bello, Indie, The Fashionisto, Huffington Post and many more. Christopher Lowman also gained the attention of celebrities like Chris Brown, Jake Miller, Aidan Alexander, Jr. Smith and many more.



In July 2017 Christopher launched his ss18 collection called “Harvard Punkd” evolving around college students battling a chain of emotions throughout a semester. The collection was featured in Vogue Paris, NY Times, Candid Magazine etc.

The hip hop team, San Antonio natives and now Los Angeles-based hip-hop band Minus Gravity released their single “Options” along with its music video. The track was produced by Grammy award-winner Rich Skillz [Robin Thicke, Nas, Ludacris]. I was excited to be talking to their exciting new release at the Christopher Lowman Spring/Summer 2019 Presentation.

“Options” reveals and expresses the trio’s hypnotic hybrid of hip-hop, and R&B.

Their exciting music shows a diversity of sound from sharp rhymes and catchy chants with an unpredictable beat to a hash-tag-able hook.

CAAFD

The Council of Aspiring American Fashion Designers (CAAFD) is a non-profit organization founded through a collaborative effort by a few key pioneers in the fashion industry with the ambitious goal of backing designers who aspire to do business in the United States. CAAFD unlocks the velvet rope and leads showcased emerging talent into close-knit circles of the fashion industry.

Helena Bajaj Larsen

Half-Indian, Half-Norwegian yet Parisian born and bred, 23-year old designer Helena Bajaj Larsen is a recent graduate of Parsons School of Design and launched her label just six months ago. She specializes in hand-painted textiles which she creates herself - works of abstract art on fabric, blending her love of textile craftsmanship with her training in fashion design. She draws inspiration from her nomadic lifestyle across various countries and cultures to form breathtaking collections using her one-of-a-kind fabrics as well as stunning sculptural jewelry pieces.

Patricia Wijaya

Starting her label in 2016 after graduating the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, Patricia Wijaya quickly took to the fashion world. Her label first released a Prêt-A-Couture line in Jakarta, which focused on telling a story and showcasing innovation throughout. For this collection, Through her designs, Wijaya creates designs that have been described as an exquisite combination of a modern day sensibilities with fairytale elements.

Sania Studio

Pakistani designer Sania Maskatiya crafts ornate and regal inspirations into every Sania Studio design, which masterfully highlight feminine silhouettes. Her designs are inspired by the beauty of nature and the environment while still being modern and classic, which are touted as some of the best craftsmanship in Pakistan, coming from generations of artisans who have specialized and perfected their craft.

Yufash

Estonian-born founder and designer Kadri Klampe created Yufash as a unique and forward-thinking brand made for the confident and powerful women of the world, with all garments fabricated exclusively in England. Founded in 2015, Klampe and Yufash have since experience skyrocketing popularity, including having designs featured on the hit television series Scream Queens.

Ayni

Peruvian-based design duo Ayni design their collections by honoring ancient traditions, utilizing local materials and altering the production model to promote environmental sustainability. Ayni, which is a Peruvian turn of phrase “today for you, tomorrow for me,” showcases their drive for both ethics as well as aesthetics.

Mouton Blanc

Japanese-born and trained in France, designer Hakuyo Miya blends together his various influences into an entirely unique creation with Mouton Blanc. Utilizing fantastical style elements with real world influences, Miya crafts fiery designs that combine color, texture and culture into beautiful and elegant pieces.

Thunyatorn

Thunyatorn Ng, born in Thailand, discovered her love and talent for fashion once moving to New York City. After making a career out of bridal makeup and hairstyling, Thunyatorn noticed the demand for traditional Thai clothing that was left unfulfilled in North America. Taking things into her own hands, Thunyatorn is among the first Thai designers to present at NYFW.

Zabetta Couture

Zabetta Couture designer Ruth Zabetta was raised in both Spain as well as the Dominican Republic, which imparts a unique cultural influence on her designs. Known for modern lines and cuts which still maintain a feminine presence, Zabetta Couture strives to create beautiful silhouettes that are consistent through all the pieces.

Ayni

Peruvian-based design duo Ayni design their collections by honoring ancient traditions, utilizing local materials and altering the production model to promote environmental sustainability. Adriana is Peruvian, Laerke is Danish. Together they are behind the brand AYNI, a clean and sophisticated line of knitwear designs.

The products are created using only the most exclusive Peruvian materials such as the luxurious baby alpaca and the famous pima cotton. All garments are made by Peruvian artisans following the principals of responsible and sustainable production and supply chain management.

The brand AYNI was created out of a common love for high quality products, nature's finest materials and a conscience social, economic and environmental engagement.

Through our brand AYNI we seeks to set an example to the rest of the fashion and textile industry by showing how ethics and aesthetics can join hands.

Manhattan, New York: From September 6th to 10th, 2018, New York Fashion Week powered by Art Hearts Fashion returned to the enchanting and dramatic Angel Orensanz Venue. Designers, celebrities, artists, buyers, and industry professionals from around the world converged in Manhattan for the most ground-breaking and innovative event. Art Hearts Fashion offered the most extensive schedule of designers over the 5 days during fashion week and over 100 international designers and artists showcasing their collections on the AHF stage. With a cutting-edge Cotton Inc show featuring Amazon & Alexa with a “See Now, Buy Now” concept, Art Hearts Fashion pushed the boundaries of creativity and innovation for New York Fashion Week.

“This was by far the most ground-breaking and creative production this season at New York Fashion Week”, said Erik Rosete, Founder and President of Art Hearts Fashion International. “We kicked off the week with World Renowned Artists Domingo Zapata featuring a special performance by Nicky Jam followed by three of our most art inspired designers”. Born and raised in New York City, Pet Couturier Anthony Rubio originally studied women’s wear at New York’s Fashion Institute Of Technology. It wasn’t until the Spring of 2003 when he started designing for dogs after Anthony rescued a small dog he would named Bandit which had been terribly abused .

Shortly there after, Socialites commissioned these exquisite creations for their four-legged family members and major media outlets started to notice.

Anthony Rubio Designs was born and stands for creating and innovating new concepts and techniques and is strictly Couture. Each garment is created by hand with maniacal obsession to achieve perfection and meticulously executed solely by Anthony Rubio taking into full consideration comfort and safety above all. He is the first pet fashion designer to showcase during New York Fashion Week.

This season Anthony Rubio Spring/Summer Collection showcased 12 designer gowns and 12 dog couture fashions.

Anthony revealed, " have to design two times one for the models and  one for the dogs. "   Anthony revealed that the inspiration for this collection was "Movies, lots if movies, retro glamorous movies. I am a big fan."

Model and Designer Alycesaundral walks the runway at the Snooty Booty Designs Spring 2019 Show

Just like every child is unique every outfit I make is unique. You will never see 2 outfits exactly the same.   The designer has designed clothing for a former Miss Great Britain, Miss Colorado and a Miss World contestant just to name a few. Now she prefers doing childrens clothing. She strive to make all her designs unique and different from what you would see anywhere else.   She also makes her clothing as prefessional as possible.   She also uses a serger to serge the fabric before its sewn to keep the fabric from raveling. 


She doubles sew the seams to keep them from coming out.  She also has an embrodery machine to custom make her designs
